For those who don’t know, Rhythmic gymnastics is a sport in which groups of five or individuals manipulate 1 or 2 pieces of apparatus: rope, ball, clubs, ribbon, hoop, and freehand.
Rhythmic gymnastics combines elements of gymnastics, dance, ballet, and handling of apparatus.
The winner is the participant that manages to earn the most points, which are determined by a panel of judges, for balances, pirouettes (pivots), apparatus handling, leaps, and execution.
The choreography needs to cover the entire floor and include a balance of jumps, leaps, balances, pivots, and flexibility movements. Every movement involves a high degree of skill.
Physical abilities required by a rhythmic gymnast include power, flexibility, agility, dexterity, endurance, strength, and hand-eye coordination.
